Ronaldinho and George Weah to star in betPawa-sponsored championship

Football legends from across the world will meet in Kigali at the Veteran Clubs World Championship, a 20-game tournament for which betPawa will be the official regional partner.

The VCWC will take place from Sunday 1st to Tuesday 10th September 2024. 150 legends will participate in the championship, as well as five economic forums on peace, education, health, business and tourism, and we’ll be heavily involved throughout.

“The legends will come from 60 countries across the world,” said VCWC Founder Fred Siewe, who called on fans to show up in large numbers for the tournament in the Rwandan capital. He added: “All those legends decided to be part of the platform because the need was there.”

betPawa Chief Commercial Officer Ntoudi Mouyelo said the sponsorship will include pre-event legend visits to Tanzania and Uganda, where some of these former footballers will engage in community programmes such as coaching clinics.

“What we want is to amplify the voices of these legends across the continent,” Mouyelo said. “Supporting this event is a way to give back to the community that trusts our brand and is a way also to support the legends in their mission to create new legends across the continent.”

He continued: “So let’s watch with excitement the likes of Ronaldinho, George Weah, Jay-Jay Okocha and all those other legends coming here.”

Further greats set to participate include Michael Owen, Philipp Lahm, Patrice Evra, Patrick Mboma, Oliver Kahn, David Trezeguet, Bacary Sagna, Louis Saha, Andy Cole and Djibril Cissé.
